DETAILS OF CURRICULUM

The curriculum of ICIS is as per the requirement of 21st century. ICIS offers a broad and balanced curriculum designed to match the educational needs of the children within the requirements of the Boards.

The role of a teacher is that of a facilitator who would encourage collaborative learning and development of multiple skills through the generous use of resources. The strength of our academic program exists in the quality of our curriculum and the ability of its teachers. Students are encouraged to be curious, involved, and active learners. Art is also integrated in teaching.

The school envisions the all-round development of students in correspondence with the holistic approach to education and therefore, emphasizes integration of co-curricular domains with curricular activities in an equitable manner.

  • The curriculum for all the classes is learner-centered with school being a place where students would be acquiring various skills; building self-concept, Effective oral and written communication, Curiosity and imagination, sensibilities and sportsmanship.
  • Children get opportunities to think laterally, critically, identify opportunities, challenge their potential and are open to new ideas. Children are engaged in practices that promote physical, cognitive, emotional and social development and well-being.
  • Subject-wise and class-wise annual curriculum overviews are designed by subject teachers. It briefly outlines the month-wise curriculum to be transacted by the subject teachers with notes on activities and assessment schedules for various Periodic Tests. This serves to standardize and monitor the timely completion of learning modules for the schedules of planned assessment for the academic session. Separate annual curriculum plan is prepared at the beginning of a new session after thorough discussion among the teachers, for every class.
  • The Annual Curriculum Plan) flows into chapter-wise pedagogical plans in the form of Unit Plans.
  • They also incorporate the interdisciplinary linkages like the new initiatives of Art integration, Health and Wellness and Life Skill education.
  • Keeping this in mind, our school always takes efforts to integrate different subject areas to give wider scope to the students to explore learning avenues. Model teaching schedules are prepared annually where teachers peer assess each other’s teaching practices for effectiveness and efficiency.
  • The school promotes innovative, responsible and ethical use of digital technologies. Teachers share resources and teaching-learning material to make an effort to learn from the best practices to move away from rote learning to a more student-centric teaching-learning model of education with a constructivist framework leading to experiential learning.

Activities are designed to develop their fine motor skills and encourage sensorial development. In a nurturing environment, they develop an awareness of themselves as responsible, capable learners. In short, they begin the process of learning by loving it.

Through extensive project work, students are given an awareness of the richness of diverse peoples’ history and culture.

The teaching and learning process in the school is focused on classroom specific requirements for transacting the curriculum, so that both teachers and students perform at their optimal best. School directs the entire focus of all school activities towards the students’ learning and acquiring of necessary competencies. Every activity taken up by the school is mapped for the academic competencies, and for life skills, values, etc., being acquired by the students. Annual Pedagogical Plan of the school is prepared, designed and developed by giving equal importance to scholastic and co-scholastic areas. School curriculum promote innovative pedagogy, with special focus on integrating art, sports and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) with education, and use active and experiential learning methods in the classrooms. Curriculum ensures joyful learning at all levels through use of such innovative pedagogy. School specific resources are developed for teaching and learning, in the form of lesson plans, e-content etc.

The pedagogical practices are learner centric. Teacher creates and ensures an atmosphere for students to feel free to ask questions. They would promote active learning among students with a focus on reflections, connecting with the world around them, creating and constructing knowledge.

Art education is an integral part of the curriculum, as a co-scholastic area at all levels. Art is integrated with the teaching and learning process of all academic subjects, to promote active and experiential learning.
